Unreliable Bestiary

Deke Weaver, a professor of new media and an interdisciplinary artist, works with theatrical elements and graphics to promote the status of endangered species, believing our stories and mythos can affect the way people think about the environment. His life-long project The Unreliable Bestiary, a series of live performances, focuses on extinction-vulnerable animals/habitats, featuring unique presentations to match for each letter of the alphabet. These presentations can feature dance, videos, performance art, puppets and storytelling along with the audience physically moving to different spaces.

Weaver believes the lives of animals are intertwined with humans, and through connecting spiritually with the public via his work, telling environmental stories in a more palatable way than the direct ugly truth, he hopes to inspire more voices for environmental preservation through emotional and unique performances.
